Chattanooga Hydrocollator Lid Handle Kit – Item 22171

The Lid Handle Kit, item 22171, is a replacement handle and hardware set designed for select older-style Chattanooga Hydrocollator heating units. It replaces a damaged, loose, worn, or missing lid handle and helps restore safer, more convenient access to the unit.

Hydrocollator lids are opened frequently throughout the day as clinicians add or remove HotPacs. Over time, the original handle may become loose, cracked, corroded, or difficult to grip. A damaged handle can make the lid harder to lift and may increase the risk of accidental contact with the hot stainless-steel surface.

Replacing the original handle with the correct kit helps maintain the function and appearance of the heating unit while giving staff a secure grip when opening or closing the lid.

Compatible Hydrocollator Models

Item 22171 is designed for the following older-style Chattanooga Hydrocollators:

SS
SS-2
M-2

This part is intended specifically for older-style units. Hydrocollator designs and lid hardware may vary by model year, so the unit model and existing handle configuration should be confirmed before ordering.

When Should the Handle Be Replaced?

Replacement may be necessary if:

The handle is cracked or broken
The handle moves or feels loose
The mounting hardware is missing or corroded
The handle no longer provides a secure grip
The original part has become worn from frequent use
The lid is difficult to open safely

The handle should be inspected regularly as part of routine equipment maintenance. Any loose hardware should be corrected before continued use.

Installation Information

Before installing the replacement handle, disconnect the Hydrocollator from electrical power and allow the unit, water, lid, and surrounding surfaces to cool completely.

Inspect the lid and mounting holes for damage or corrosion before installing the new hardware. The handle should be firmly secured without overtightening or damaging the lid.

Installation should be performed by someone familiar with the equipment. If the lid or mounting area is damaged, a qualified service technician should inspect the unit before the replacement part is installed.
