Chattanooga M-2 Hydrocollator with Wheels – Item 2402 – 27″ L × 16″ W × 33″ H

The M-2 Hydrocollator, Chattanooga item number 2402, is a mobile moist-heat therapy unit designed for physical therapy clinics, rehabilitation centers, chiropractic offices, athletic training rooms, and other professional healthcare environments. Built from durable stainless steel, the unit provides a dependable supply of consistently heated HotPacs for daily therapeutic use. The M-2 Carries 12 hotpacs, which come with the unit.

The M-2 is one of Chattanooga’s larger mobile Hydrocollator models. It offers enough capacity for busy clinics while remaining compact enough to move between treatment areas when needed. Heavy-duty casters allow the unit to be repositioned throughout the facility, making it a practical choice for clinics that require both capacity and mobility.

Designed for Moist-Heat Therapy

Hydrocollator heating units are designed to heat and store Chattanooga HotPacs in thermostatically controlled water. Once properly heated, the packs are removed from the tank, wrapped in an appropriate terry cover and insulating layers, and applied according to professional treatment protocols.

Moist heat is commonly used in rehabilitation settings to help prepare patients for stretching, exercise, manual therapy, and other clinical treatments. Treatment selection, temperature, duration, and application should always be determined by a qualified healthcare professional.

The M-2 Hydrocollator provides a centralized heating station so clinicians can keep multiple HotPacs ready throughout the workday.

Holds Up to 12 Standard HotPacs

The M-2 Hydrocollator is designed to hold up to 12 standard-size HotPacs, or a combination of different pack sizes. Oversize packs occupy additional space within the rack, so the total capacity may vary depending on the assortment being heated.

Its removable stainless-steel rack helps organize the packs inside the tank while keeping them positioned away from the heating components at the bottom of the unit. The open-wire design also allows heated water to circulate around the packs.

This capacity makes the unit well suited for medium-to-high-volume treatment settings where several patients may require moist-heat therapy throughout the day.

Durable Stainless-Steel Construction

The stainless-steel tank and exterior are designed to withstand regular professional use. Stainless steel provides durability in a warm, wet environment and is relatively easy to clean when maintained according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

The unit is designed to provide a constant supply of temperature-consistent HotPacs and is built for long-term use in clinical environments.

Routine maintenance remains important. The tank should be drained and cleaned regularly to reduce mineral buildup, sediment, and contamination. The rack, heating element, thermostat, overtemperature switch, drain, and electrical components should also be inspected as part of an appropriate preventive-maintenance schedule.

Mobile Design for Professional Clinics

Unlike stationary Hydrocollator models, the M-2 Hydrocollator includes wheels for convenient movement within the clinic. This allows staff to position the unit near treatment rooms, therapy tables, or designated HotPac preparation areas.

The casters should remain on a level, stable surface during operation. The unit should never be moved while filled with hot water unless the manufacturer’s instructions specifically permit it and appropriate safety precautions are followed.

Its combination of mobility and pack capacity makes the M-2 useful for:

Physical therapy clinics
Rehabilitation departments
Chiropractic offices
Sports medicine facilities
Athletic training rooms
Long-term care facilities
Hospital therapy departments
Occupational health clinics

Temperature-Controlled Operation

The unit uses an internal thermostat to regulate the water temperature. The heating element warms the water, while the thermostat and overtemperature safety switch help manage normal operation and protect against excessive heat.

The Hydrocollator should be filled to the proper water level before it is connected to electrical power. Operating the unit without enough water may damage the heating system and create a safety hazard.

Water temperature should be checked regularly using an accurate thermometer. If the unit becomes too hot, remains only warm, or stops heating, it should be removed from service and inspected by a qualified technician.

Important Safety and Maintenance Information

The M-2 Hydrocollator contains heated water and line-voltage electrical components. It should be operated and maintained only according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Basic precautions include:

Keep the unit properly filled with water
Check the water temperature before removing HotPacs
Use approved terry covers and sufficient insulating layers
Never apply a heated pack directly to the skin
Inspect the power cord, plug, casters, lid, rack, and controls regularly
Disconnect the unit from power before draining, cleaning, or servicing it
Allow the tank and water to cool before maintenance
Have electrical repairs performed by a qualified service technician
