A 13-diode cluster laser/LED applicator head (“13CLS”) used with Chattanooga laser therapy base units — not a single bare diode.
What it is
- Name/Type: 13 Diode Cluster Applicator, 415 mW total (often labeled 13CLS)
- Purpose: Photobiomodulation / low-level laser therapy over a medium-to-large treatment area, giving broader coverage than single-diode heads but smaller than the 33-diode cluster.
Diode mix & wavelengths (core feature)
- Total 13 emitters combining laser + SLD + LED sources:
- 3 × Laser diodes: 850 nm infrared, 100 mW each
- 3 × SLD diodes: 950 nm infrared, 15 mW each
- 7 × LED diodes: 670 nm red, 10 mW each
- Why that matters:
- 850 & 950 nm IR target deeper tissues (muscle, tendon, joint capsule).
- 670 nm red LEDs add superficial/near-surface dosing and more even area coverage.
- The cluster layout spreads energy uniformly compared with a single spot beam.

- Clinical implication: better for larger regions than single-diode heads, with faster area coverage due to multiple emitters.
- Compatibility

- What you can do with it on the base unit
- With #27814 attached, compatible Chattanooga bases allow: Laser, SLD, and LED therapy from the same head (since all three emitter types are present).
- Base-controlled dosing/features such as continuous or pulsed output, variable pulse frequencies, and energy tracking in Joules or J/cm² (these are features of the Genisys/Neo laser platforms).
Safety / class note:
- When connected to its therapy base, this applicator is part of a Class 3B therapeutic laser system, so standard clinical laser precautions apply (eye protection, controlled use).
