It is important to note that these units must use Ultrasound Gel to be coupled properly, ensuring that U.S. waves are being transmitted properly.   (The new Intelect Legend 2 does not use U.S. Gel Directly on the head, must be dry when activated and the gel goes on the skin directly)

1. The item code 27382 refers to a replacement 2 cm2 applicator for a Chattanooga U.S./E-stim combo unit.

2. It is important to replace the applicator when it is no longer functioning properly and cannot be repaired or calibrated.

3. Regular maintenance and inspection can help determine when a replacement is necessary, e.g. Cord frayed, no output, error codes, no coupling, etc.

4. Signs that indicate the need for replacement include decreased effectiveness in ultrasound therapy and visible damage to the sound head as well as Output and Feedback from the patient.  If the sound head does not heat correctly, that could also be a problem. (These sound heads do not heat up only slightly higher than the body temperature)

5. Replacing / recalibrating the applicator ensures optimal performance and accurate treatment delivery and better treatment outcomes.

6. Healthcare professionals should be aware of the specific item code when ordering a replacement sound head (There are more than 1 size of sound head) this page is for the 2 cm2.

7. It is recommended to consult the manufacturer’s guidelines for Chattanooga U.S. / combo units regarding the maintenance schedule for the applicator. (Yearly calibration is needed to be in compliance with audits)
